The CareFusion Infant Flow SiPAP is a non-invasive respiratory support system for newborns and infants , particularly in neonatal and pediatric resuscitation and intensive care. It delivers continuous positive airway pressure ( nCPAP /CNPP ) and biphasic respiratory support to assist spontaneous breathing and improve respiratory function in newborns.

The device features an LCD touchscreen for adjusting and monitoring respiratory parameters, displaying pressure curves and integrating various monitoring and alarm functions. Depending on its configuration, it can also offer a patient-triggered biphasic mode with emergency ventilation in case of apnea .

Main features

  • Type: Neonatal non-invasive respiratory support system
  • Population: newborns and infants
  • Use: neonatal and pediatric resuscitation and intensive care
  • Available modes:
    • nCPAP / PPCN
    • nCPAP with respiratory rate monitoring
    • Time-triggered biphasic
    • BiPhasic with respiratory rate monitoring
    • BiPhasic triggered by the patient with backup ventilation in case of apnea, according to configuration
  • nCPAP pressure: up to 11 cmH₂O
  • Patient-triggered BiPhasic mode: up to 15 cmH₂O
  • T-High time: 0.1 to 3 seconds
  • Cycle frequency: up to 120 cycles/min depending on configuration
  • Adjustable FiO₂: 21 to 100%
  • nCPAP flow rate / low pressure: 0 to 15 L/min
  • High pressure flow rate: 0 to 5 L/min
  • Monitoring: CPAP/PEEP, mean pressure, maximum inspiratory pressure, FiO₂, I/E ratio, spontaneous respiratory rate, and battery level
  • Alarms: high/low pressure, overpressure, high/low FiO₂, low breathing rate, low battery, and gas supply fault
  • Screen: LCD touchscreen with pressure/time curve display
  • Power supply: 100–230 V AC, 50/60 Hz
  • Battery life: up to approximately 2 hours
  • Pneumatic supply: medical air and oxygen
  • Control module dimensions: approximately 26 × 38 × 23.5 cm
  • Module weight: approximately 8.8 kg
  • Operating temperature: 5 to 40 °C

The system uses an Infant Flow variable flow generator coupled with a patient circuit and a nasal interface adapted for newborns. This technology is designed to provide stable CPAP pressure while minimizing the work of breathing required from the patient.
